7. Don’t display all of the important text of your page in graphics.

Search engines can’t “see” graphics. What they see is the ALT tag of your photo, if you have one, not the image itself. So if you have large blocks of text appearing on your page in the form of a GIF or a JPEG graphic, your viewers will be able to see the text, but search engines won’t. Try to keep the majority of your text readable by search engines and use GIF and JPEG graphic text for headers or spot text, such as that with a logo.

Also make sure you use the ALT tags for all of your images; this provides descriptions of your photos and graphics for those experiencing your pages without images or for visually-impaired audiences, and of course supplies the search engines with more content that should improve your rankings.
